TCON is based on Riversdale Road, Surrey Hills, and works Melbourne's inner east on architect-designed projects. The inner-east suburbs are a short drive from the office; Bayside and the inner south-east are further out.
The catchment covers Boroondara end to end, the northern half of Stonnington, the southern edge of Banyule, and the heritage suburbs of Bayside. Within that territory TCON has published case studies in Kew, Camberwell, Hawthorn, Hawthorn East, Glen Iris, Brighton, Balwyn, Ivanhoe East, Abbotsford, and South Yarra.
The list below names every suburb where TCON works actively, identifies projects delivered there, and notes the heritage and council context. Where a dedicated suburb landing page exists, the entry links to it.
Surrey Hills is home. The inner east is the territory we know best.
A map of TCON's completed projects across Melbourne's inner east, from the Surrey Hills office.
Kew.
Three published case studies. Hillcrest Bungalow with Mim Design. Double Gable Home with Partridge Architect. Scott Bungalow with John Say Designs and Emily Watters Design.
Heritage form preserved, contemporary architect-designed addition held behind, basement work where the site allows. Kew sits inside the City of Boroondara heritage overlay framework.
See the dedicated Kew renovations page for the detail.
Camberwell. Art Deco Revival, a 1930s rendered residence with John Say Designs and George Marks Design. Camberwell's era mix, from Victorian through Art Deco, asks builders to be fluent in more than one heritage period. See the dedicated Camberwell renovations page for the detail.
Surrey Hills. Home. The office has been on Riversdale Road, Surrey Hills, since the company was founded on 1 July 2015. Albany with Mékr Studio and Weybridge are both Surrey Hills homes delivered by TCON, and owners here can expect the same standard TCON holds across Boroondara. See the dedicated Surrey Hills renovations page for the detail.
Hawthorn. Boulevard Bungalow with Byrne Architects. Brick Californian bungalow frontage retained, with a contemporary architect-designed rear addition and a new basement level. Minona, a clinker brick Art Deco home fully renovated with John Say Designs, is Hawthorn work too. Hawthorn is a primary TCON suburb and Boroondara heritage overlay knowledge applies.
Glen Iris. Rosedale, a contemporary architect-designed residence with Webster Architecture and Interiors. Denman Home with Pleysier Perkins, and Glentilt. Glen Iris work mixes contemporary new build with heritage extension at the eastern edge of Stonnington.
Brighton. Victorian Villa with RossTang Architects, a heritage Victorian with a curved rear addition. Normanby House with Pleysier Perkins, a double-fronted Victorian extended with a three-storey rear addition and a new basement level. Brighton sits inside the City of Bayside heritage framework.
Hawthorn East. Roseberry Residence with Tecture. Period weatherboard cottage extended with a restrained double-storey addition behind the retained street form.
Balwyn. Enoteca Boccaccio Restaurant, a commercial hospitality fitout with Mim Design, shortlisted in the 2024 Australian Interior Design Awards. The Balwyn presence sits adjacent to Camberwell and the City of Boroondara heritage framework.
Ivanhoe East. Triple Fronted Revival with Pleysier Perkins. A long-held family home extended using the fall of the site. Ivanhoe East sits inside the City of Banyule, on the northern edge of the TCON catchment.
South Yarra. Joy Terrace with Pleysier Perkins. A traditional terrace house reworked through a disciplined heritage renovation and contemporary rear extension. South Yarra sits inside the City of Stonnington.
Abbotsford. Oak Home with MRTN Architects. A custom built architectural residence composed as a series of gabled volumes around a protected courtyard.
Albert Park. Merton with Archier. Inner south architect-designed work. The Albert Park presence reflects the practice link with Archier and TCON's willingness to travel for the right brief.
Canterbury, Deepdene, Toorak, Armadale, Malvern. Active enquiry territory in the Boroondara and Stonnington catchments. Architect-designed work proceeds on the same Pre-Construction Program and negotiated tender model.
City of Boroondara.
Boroondara manages heritage overlays across Kew, Camberwell, Surrey Hills, Hawthorn, Hawthorn East, Balwyn, Canterbury, and Glen Iris. The council assesses retained facade integrity, the height plane to the street, articulation and setback of new work, and the relationship to neighbouring heritage stock.
TCON has a decade of repeat experience inside this overlay framework. TCON helps architect collaborators run buildability advice into the heritage permit submission.
TCON has delivered retained Victorian, Edwardian, Federation, Californian bungalow, and Art Deco facades to council expectations.
City of Stonnington.
Stonnington runs heritage overlays across South Yarra, Toorak, Armadale, Malvern, and parts of Glen Iris. The terrace and grand villa stock here drives a different set of considerations to Boroondara.
Streetscape rhythm and the roof form to the street both matter here.
TCON has completed Joy Terrace in South Yarra with Pleysier Perkins inside the Stonnington overlay framework.
City of Bayside. Bayside manages the heritage stock across Brighton. The coastal context, the established hedges, and the deep front setbacks change the conversation with council. We have completed Victorian Villa and Normanby House in Brighton, both Bayside heritage projects. Brighton site water table and soil conditions are well known to our team for basement work.
