A Surrey Hills home held to a single set of tolerances
Albany is a Surrey Hills home reimagined for how people live now. Mékr Studio led the design and TCON led the build, with a shared discipline for detail, proportion and material transition.
The work moved through structure and finish under one set of tolerances. Every material transition holds because every material transition was resolved before it was built. The joinery lines, the concrete faces, the shadow gaps at every junction: each one carries the same standard.
Surrey Hills sits in a mature landscape of interwar homes and street trees. Albany respects that context without deferring to it. From the street elevation to the last visible edge inside, the home reads as one composed piece.
Working with Mékr Studio
Mékr Studio brings a considered approach to architectural residential work in inner Melbourne. On Albany, the collaboration was disciplined from concept design through to handover, with the TCON Pre-Construction Program used to settle buildability and budget before the drawings closed.
Featured in The Local Project and Est Living
The Local Project featured the home as a project feature in April 2025, published under the title ALB Residence, with photography by Madeleine Burke and styling by Nicola Rogers. Est Living followed in August 2025, featuring the home in its Dining Spaces series and crediting the build to TCON.
