About

We specialise in Architectural extensions and this Spanish mission is no exception to the rule. With humble beginnings and a big vision for her new home, Sarah and her designers have worked hard to come up with something that is both good looking and a functional space. The detail finds itself in every facet of the façade, with its tall Silvertop Ash cladded walls, a vast modern, light filled living room and kitchen. The bathrooms and laundry have top end finishes and we've harnessed natural light everywhere we can, keeping the house open, warm and functional.

I absolutely love my home! Every day when I’m in it I walk around thinking to myself how amazing it is and how thrilled I am that I’ve finally done it. I have TCON to thank for that. From the moment I met Stu and Tim, I knew they were different from other builders I’d met. They listened and worked with me to understand what I was after and how I could achieve that within my budget.

Their attitude was so refreshing as I knew from the outset we could work together to make this dream a reality. There was a real honesty and genuine “good guy” nature to both of them. In fact, that was pervasive across their organisation because any tradie I had working at my home from TCON was the same. Their communication was impeccable. They always got back to me in a timely manner and were in contact with me as regularly as needed to keep me informed of the process. Stu had everything coordinated so there was no down time and we could get the renovation done in a tight timeframe.

Several other renovations were happening in my street at the same time and so many of my neighbours commented how efficient TCON were in comparison. They were always on site working! The quality of their work is of the highest standard and they really went the extra mile to deliver a beautiful end result. Thank you TCON. You could not be more highly recommended by me.

About

Built in 1927, this stunning California Bungalow is full of it's original features, 3 metre high ceilings, original windows, flooring, walls, doors and everything else. The client has decided to restore this timber home to all its glory and extend with a modern, architectural open plan living area. We will build a second storey above the extension with 3 bedrooms, bathroom and a retreat upstairs which will seperate the original classic weatherboard and create a perfect contrast between Architectural and Heritage.

About

Our clients have worked with their designer to open up this Victorian Weatherboard home in a leafy pocket of Northcote. We've added a new main bedroom with WIR, Ensuite for Mum and Dad, along with new timber flooring and joinery to the existing bedrooms. A central Laundry backs on to a new Kitchen, which flows through nicely to the Living room and new Playroom at the back of the property.

We've maximised the light and outlook in to the backyard with classy black Aluminium double glazed Stackers, Sliders, and Fixed panel windows. New stringy bark Timber floors will transition beautifully in to the existing polished concrete Living room, and accentuate the modern finishes throughout.

TESTIMONIAL

Big thanks to Tim, Adam, Clancy and all the guys at TCON who renovated our house last year. As designers my wife and I were looking for a high-end architectural feel whilst respecting the period features & heritage of the house. TCON exceeded our expectations applying the care and attention to detail needed throughout the work.

From day 1 we were impressed by TCON’s approach. Adam did an exceptional job managing the project, keeping things well organised and providing some invaluable advice along the way.

Throughout the build we found a sense of pride in the way the TCON builders went about their work, which has been reflected in the workmanship & quality of the finished product.

We are delighted with the end result - being back home with the kids for Christmas was amazing, and we’ll always be grateful to the TCON crew who pulled out all stops to make it happen. We couldn’t recommend TCON highly enough.

Thanks again,

Matt & Renee

ABOUT

Our St Kilda project is going to be a beauty with this original 1920s brick federation home which is about to get a nice face lift and rear modern extension. Originally this home started out as an old, tired and worn out 3 bedroom with too many walls separating any connection between one another. The new home will still be a 3 bedroom, but with a large 17 metre X 5 metre (85m2) open plan dining, kitchen and living area that will comprise of nice 3.6 metre high raked ceilings with 3 large skylights to maximise the natural light into this modern extension.

About

Another project designed by Adele Bates, Morgan and her husband decided that they would like to bring a family heirloom (Been in the family for over a century!) back to life. A story tale once it is all complete, TCON have been asked to restore all the original features, new Bathroom, Laundry, Kitchen, Living, Herringbone floorboards throughout and some large timber windows to allow all the natural light to enter this Edwardian home. With scheduled completion due at the end of October, the painters are already inside.

Testimonial

Deciding to undertake a full renovation of our home that had been passed down three generations of our family was a daunting decision to make. Our next step was to find a builder that we could trust with this project, and are so grateful to have found TCON.

From our very first contact, through the planning phase to construction and even beyond the completion of this project, TCON have been remarkable in every way.

Not only did we find Tim, our project manager Stu and the entire team at TCON incredibly honest and transparent, their attention to detail and dedication to providing the finest results went beyond anything we could have hoped for. They walked us through every step of this project, and whilst we waited for the inevitable stressors that are supposed to come with renovating a home- none came. Tim and Stu cared for our home like it was their own, and together with their entire team worked tirelessly to transform our old and tired house into a beautiful hand-crafted gift for the generations in our family to come.

We can't thank them, nor sing their praises loudly enough.

With sincere gratitude,

Morgan and Markus

About

Knock down and rebuild of a classic Victorian weatherboard home in Northcote. The client wants to keep the original design of their home, but the cost to re-engineer it for a second storey on a highly reactive site was going to be tough and expensive. They elected to knock it down and this way can have a custom made family home and their own block of land.

About

With a beautiful old heritage home on a large corner block, Scott and Anna would like to bring all the original features back to life, and at the same time, expand the size of their home. With an architecturally designed extension, they will have the luxury of a new home inside, and have the peace of mind that you can retain the historic character, conserve the original fabric and blend modern day architecture.

Testimonial

In 2016 we partnered with Tim Walker and his TCON team to renovated our existing heritage home and build a new extension. With only minor repair works done over the years to this 1880’s built house, our home was due for a major overhaul. Situated within a heritage overlay, the existing portion of house required a sensitive refurbishment to nearly all surfaces, including stumps, lathe and plaster, slate roof and verandah.

In addition to ‘bringing back to life’ the original section of house, we needed to add a new extension which required a sympathetic approach in scale but also in its crafting and detailing. On all accounts, TCON delivered above expectations in the construction of the house. The house is faithful to its heritage whilst the modern portion delivers to today’s standards and beyond. Throughout the course of the 10 month building phase (completed 2 months earlier than agreed) the TCON team and contractors were a pleasure to deal with. At all times we felt comfortable asking questions and where necessary changing the design in response to on site issues (or simply just a change of mind). TCON were responsive and open to conversations that made the most effective use of time and our financial restraints.

At times during the building phase, issues arose where variations occurred, though TCON were transparent in their communication and gave us plenty of warning where variations became evident. In short, all variations were fair and reasonable and only added to the improvement of the end result. In essence, should we decide to build again, we would like to use TCON. Their enthusiasm and openness made the experience a pleasure. TCON did what’s right for us (the client). Should you wish to discuss any aspect of our experiences we would be more than happy to.

April 2016

About

Victor and Michelle have just completed a very extensive renovation, but we broke it up into 3 seperate stages to make life a little less disruptive. First, we renovated their downstairs completely with new kitchen, laundry, bathroom and hallway.

Six months later we went upstairs and added another bedroom, opened the space which incorporated a new bathroom, builtin robes and lounge area for the kids. Further down the track we put the final piece in the puzzle - the Alfresco. We demolished the existing decking, removed all the posts and put some large beams in the roof so that the new alfresco could be opened up and overlook the stunning pool, spotted gum screens and decking.

About

With a large amount of roof space, there is actually a second storey inside of this roof. We have extended the gable end of the roof and installed two new windows to bring in a large amount of natural light to the bedroom. The Ensuite was also very tight for space, so we extended out of the roof, a dormer window, which will be cladded with Alucobond. A new ensuite, new polished timber floors and fresh coat of paint has turned this house into a home!

Testimonial

Whilst we loved the fact that our house came with a full renovation when we purchased it back in 2014, there were a few things about the house that were not exactly to our liking. Once we were settled in, we enlisted the help of an architect and called on Tim and his team to make our desired changes into reality.

As we used Tim at our previous home in St Kilda we knew that we were in good hands. From the very first contact with Tim to discuss the plans, following through the renovation, to the final stages and post completion, Tim and his team were truly exceptional to deal with at all times. Stu, our ever-positive and friendly project manager, was always on hand to meet any of our requests as well as to keep us informed of works timeline.

As we lived in through the renovation, we were incredibly appreciative of Tim and his team for ensuring that our home was always left tidied up at the end of each day so that we could still enjoy our living arrangements. Additionally they treated our home with respect and assured that the finest level of detail and attention went into their work so that we would have the best result. We are indebted to Tim and his team and would use them again in a flash! Keep up the good work!

About

TCON won this project at Tender to complete the Lock-Up, External Cladding of Weatherboards, Express Wall Cladding, Silvertop Ash Shiplap, Timber Flooring, Fix Out, Fences, Timber decking and various other works.

We have had up to 14 full time Carpenters and Apprentices working on the project at any one time, finishing all works with a high level of detail compared to other volume builders who prefer to get in and out quickly, roughly and to let the painters finish the work. We never drop our quality or attention to detail no matter how big the project is that we are faced with and we will always finish our work to the time frame scheduled.

About

Combining contemporary design cues with heritage features, number thirty nine is going to shape up to be one of our best projects to date. The scope is wholesome and leaves no stone unturned in the quest to revive the 1940’s post war home that exists. We will be stripping back to frame in the existing, and opening up the lower ground spaces with expansive structural propping and steel work. The entire home has high end Architectural detail by Pleysier Perkins throughout. The outdoors will be lined with beautiful greenery, crazy paving, pool and a plant list that will wow any horticulturist. This project will be one to watch over the next 9 months for sure. This progressive build will involve a raft of specialist trades and products to implement over the job. Watch this space.

ABOUT

Built in 1913, this stunning tuck pointed brick Federation home has all the original features including slate tiles and is a standout in the suburb. Home to three continuous generations before our clients moved in, the house has been maintained with love. Our task at hand is to extend into the spacious backyard to create a new kitchen, open plan living, study and laundry. We will then push above the 3.3 metre high ceilings downstairs and carefully add two large bedrooms and a bathroom and make this home big enough for the growing family.
